“I just want to hear something I haven’t heard before” – John Peel
A huge part of our vision here at the John Peel Centre has always been to champion creativity – to provide a space for new voices, new music, and new work. So we’re enormously proud of our wonderful music programme so far – and we also want to do more.
Which is how we came to develop JPC Create.
JPC Create is about celebrating creativity, and championing the artistic work being done by people both within East Anglia, and beyond.
Covering everything from music, comedy, and theatre to poetry, art and dance, we’ll be running competitions, profiling artists and projects, and generally shouting enthusiastically about the great work that people are doing out there.
We recognise that making art of all kinds is even more important during these uncertain times – so JPC Create is designed to be lockdown-proof. To begin with, we’ll be running new initiatives exclusively online, with plans to expand them out into our physical space in Stowmarket when restrictions allow.
We kicked things off in April/May 2021 with our very first writing competition. Read the winning entries here.
If you’d like to stay up to date with all of our new developments, you can follow the new JPC Create profiles on Instagram and Facebook.
