We are absolutely thrilled that MSDC has committed to supporting the JPC by working with us on a 40-year lease of 11 Market Place, for a nominal rent.
We will use this opportunity to develop the JPC’s presence as a vibrant cultural hub in the centre of Stowmarket. This new space will further allow us to create a place where our community can congregate and access arts and culture in a creative and comfortable setting.
We are currently working with MSDC officers to finalise the details of the Heads of Terms of the lease. Once all the necessary agreements and paperwork are complete, we will be beginning work on the space. This will involve some remodelling and efforts to ensure that the building is safe for public use.
In light of this work, we are working on the assumption that we will be able to open our doors for ‘phase one’ activities within 12 months of finalising the lease – although prepared as well for possible delays resulting from the ongoing impact of the pandemic. Once open, we will continue to work on the building, as well as involving the local community in our plans for the development of the space.
