*** SOLD OUT! ***
We are very excited to announce that THE UNDERTONES will be performing here at the John Peel Centre on Friday 30th August! This is a very special concert to celebrate what would have been John Peel’s 80th birthday.
Formed in Derry, Northern Ireland in 1975, The Undertones became renowned for combining lyrical invention and musical flair with intelligent simplicity. Their anthemic Teenage Kicks – John Peel’s all-time favourite song – is one of the most influential songs of the post-punk era.
“My first encounter with John Peel was back in 1978 when as a smug teenager I phoned BBC Radio 1 and asked to speak to ‘Mr Peel’. I guess I wanted to make him aware of The Undertones and have us associated with all the great records that he was playing on the radio. Unbelievably he took my call. He was so gracious, patient and considerate. This was the first link with John Peel and The Undertones.” – Michael Bradley, The Undertones
To mark this occasion, the JPC will be donating a proportion of income from ticket sales from this concert to 4YP to support their work to improve the social, emotional, and physical health and well-being of young people in Suffolk, aged 12-25.
The current allocation of tickets has now SOLD OUT! There is a (long) waiting list for tickets on the Box Office.
Tickets are £25, available from the Box Office on 01449 774678 (10am-2pm weekdays).
