November Band Night @ John Peel Centre

An evening featuring 3 of the best local alternative music acts … come and see what our region has to offer:

Underline the Sky are an Ipswich band formed in 2009. The line-up is Bronwyn Cooper – Vocals, James Hicks – Drums, Dan Oaten – Guitar.

Fronted by a half-British, half-American vocalist, and drawing influences from Fall Out Boy to Underoath, Underline The Sky kickstarted their career by winning Road To V 2009 .

Soon after, the band was chosen as the ‘Best of BBC Introducing’ for Suffolk, and featured on Huw Stephen’s Radio 1 show; ‘The Best of BBC Introducing’.

Their new single Candlelight is out now! In a recent poll by the Ipswich Star they were one of the bands nominated by the public as a potential support act for Ed Sheeran at his Chantry Park dates!

Deep City are an Indie/Electronic/Pop band from Cambridgeshire formed in 2014. They are inspired by bands such as Fickle Friends, Swim Deep, Toro y Moi, and Jaws, Deep City’s music consists of moodily dark atmospheric samples and darkpop guitar tones; combining their love of 80s and 90s synth sounds with 21st century pop sensibility. The band comprises of vocalist and guitarist Stanley Horseman, lead guitarist Lewis Moran, bassist Stephen Farrell and drummer Alex Dixon. Deep City have had airplay from BBC 6 Music & Steve Lamacq, plus they won Best Group 18 & Under at NMG Awards in 2016 & 2017, and have been tipped by BBC Introducing Cambridgeshire for 2017. They performed at the NMG awards 2018.

They have their latest single PAINKILLER out now .

Originally from South London and now based in Woodbridge and London, Caswell grew up with her then punk rocker, now vinyl dealer, mother in Tulse Hill. She began writing songs at ten years old and subsequently taught herself the piano, and by fourteen she had secured a place at the prestigious BRIT School.

Her singular sound- a mix of downtempo electronic soul and pop with a tangible jazz influence- fuses past and present, and has developed into a rich interplay of music and lyrics owed in large part to her songwriting. Having self-released her debut EP The Shadow Aspect in late 2017, her music has now accumulated over half a million Spotify streams and has received support from BBC Introducing Suffolk, Amazing Radio and Reprezent radio. Her latest song Lie to Me is out now!

“The pop newcomer has swiftly become a viral success”- Clash Magazine

“What she creates is beautiful and moving, and if you aren’t already rooting for Caswell for 2017, you should be.” – Wonderland Magazine
