Buffalo Skinners + Owl & Wolves (support) @ John Peel Centre

Nearing their thirteenth year together as The Buffalo Skinners, 2023 marks an exciting new chapter for Peter (guitar & vocals) & James (violin & vocals)… Fellow founding member Lawrence Menard is now back in the fold on Accordion, Keys & Electric Guitar and the band find themselves fully submerged in a lively electric sound that they had previously only dipped their toes into on tracks like ‘Monkey On Your Back.’

The Buffalo Skinners’ adventures  have taken them all over (North America, Ireland, France, Germany, Norway) and they’ve performed at some of the most renowned music festivals in the UK (Glastonbury, Cambridge Folk Festival, BBC Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park.) Their music has earned the attention, air-play and esteem of many high profile BBC radio DJs including Steve Lamacq, Bob Harris, Cerys Matthews, Janice Long, Paul Jones and Dermot O’Leary.

“They just got the crowd going and had a roaring reception. Astonishing.”

Janice Long, BBC Radio 2

“Their music is painted vividly across a broad canvas, using a palette that draws easily from traditional folk and rock’n’roll” ~ God Is In the TV

“Buskers made good!” ~ Steve Lamacq, BBC 6 Music

Owl & Wolves

Owl & Wolves are a 5 piece blues skiffle band featuring slide guitar, rhythm guitar, fiddle, bass, drums and vocals. Formed in 2013 as a 3 piece blues band, they quickly became interested in the sounds of Western swing and the blues and jazz scene from the early 19th century, realising there are many old forgotten tunes begging to be rediscovered and given an Owl & Wolves makeover. They have now carved out a solid local following, performing many gigs all over Norfolk and Suffolk as well as taking the support slot for legendary American Slide guitarist Kent Duchaine and Leadbessie. They are a regular feature at the Beccles beer festival and supply the soundtrack to the very popular whacky local sport, ‘Dwile Flonking’ amongst other local events. This band deliver a unique, upbeat, stomping performance that guarantees to get your feet a tappin’!
