Following the recent Government announcement that all entertainment venues will need to close from Thursday 5th November until at least 2nd December, this screening will not be shown on the advertised date. We thank you for your continued support and understanding.
On 27th November, just over 50 years after his death, the JPC will be screening Warner Bros. ‘A Film About Jimi Hendrix’ followed by a Zoom Q&A with the film’s director and producer, Joe Boyd.
Made shortly after Jimi Hendrix’s death, this documentary explores the brief life and remarkable legacy of the legendary guitarist and this event provides a unique opportunity to speak directly to the man responsible for the film.
‘When Muddy Waters came to London at the start of the 60’s, Joe Boyd was his tour manager. When Dylan went electric at the Newport Festival, Joe Boyd plugged in his guitar. Joe Boyd ran the UFO club in London, chose Pink Floyd as a house band and recorded their first single.’
‘Joe Boyd is one of that select group of rock luminaries, like John Peel, who didn’t have to pick up a guitar to shape the evolution of entire genres of music’.
