Cult Folk Legend, Beans on Toast is coming to Stowmarket  as part of Independent Venue Week 2019 to promote his new album “A Bird in The Hand’ and he’s bringing a full band with him. His 10th studio album out 1st December was produced by Mumford & Sons Ben Lovett at the legendary Church Studios (Bob Dylan / Radiohead / Adele) and is quite possibly his finest, most accomplished work to date.

This extensive UK tour will see the unique live performer, on stage in his element playing songs from the new record alongside crowd favourites from his varied and extensive back catalogue. Over the course of his huge career Beans has become something of a cult national treasure. What seemed like a throwaway festival act has evolved into something much more important, a voice of truth and honesty, cutting through the bullshit. A consistent and reliable modern-day troubadour, not afraid to speak his mind; always touring, always writing, recording and releasing music. Playing every festival under the sun and always, always, telling it like it is.

‘A Bird in the Hand’ is a celebration of love, life, family and the world in which we live. Expect these very special live shows to personify the exact same ethos.

Alden, Patterson & Dashwood | Honey & The Bear

Alden, Patterson & Dashwood | Honey & The Bear @ John Peel Centre

Joining forces for an evening to showcase the best in contemporary Folk, Alden, Patterson & Dashwood and Honey & The Bear are proud to bring you their own twists on the tradition, storytelling woven in to song and harmonies abound in a magical night to remember.

Norwich-based folk trio Alden Patterson and Dashwood weave rich vocal harmonies, fiddle, dobro, guitar and mandolin around beautifully written original songs and melodies. Their music takes influence from folk traditions from both sides of the Atlantic with uplifting instrumentals and self-penned songs depicting tales of young travellers, sleepy seas and their affection for home.

Honey & The Bear are a roots-inspired duo from the Suffolk Coast. Their softly interweaving vocal harmonies and foot stomping rhythms combine elements of Folk & Americana. The multi instrumentalist pair, comprised of songwriters Jon Hart and Lucy Hart, include Guitar, Banjo, Ukelele Mandolin and Double Bass and have been writing & performing together up & down the UK since early 2014.

“Accomplished, easy-on-the-ear acoustic folk-pop for grown-ups” – fRoots Magazine

“Beautiful harmonies and charisma from both aside, they were very obviously enjoying each other’s company which enhanced the atmosphere of the evening … Jon and Lucy spoke, played and sang with ease making it all look effortless … Their lyrics were significant without being contrived, and were enhanced by their storytelling and communication with the audience in between numbers.”
