Skinny Girl Diet + Tarantina + Strike The Sun | IVW
Church Walk
Stowmarket IP14 1ET

Independent Venue Week is thrilled to announce their ambassador Nadine Shah, and the artists who will be playing the tour she has curated for Independent Venue Week 2018. Skinny Girl Diet and Tarantina are coming to Stowmarket as part of this tour.
In an interview with Joe Zadeh on the Independent Venue Week website, Nadine Shah recently mentioned she found out about the project through the radio. “I heard about it loads via BBC 6Music, and it just sounded like a great idea. I like that IVW is celebrating small independent venues, and doesn’t get too militant about telling people what they need to do to save them. It’s about having a good time in these places rather than just rallying for support.”
“The idea for the tour is to shine a light on some of the music and performers I love, who are currently out there playing” said Nadine.
Skinny Girl Diet have been widely picked up as champions of DIY punk. The Slits’ Viv Albertine recently said to Dazed and Confused that they were, “At last, real girls, young and believable, singing in their own voices. The music is raw, direct and unpretentious – these girls are timeless. They’re still fighting, still full of energy and self-belief. Go and see them – you’ll be inspired to get up there and do it too.”
If music could kill, Skinny Girl Diet would have you on the floor begging for mercy. The legendary Neneh Cherry recently hailed them as “the future” on her guest BBC 6 Music show and everyone from XFM’s Jon Kennedy, BBC Radio 6’s Steve Lamaq, BBC Radio 1’s Rob Da Bank, and Amazing Radio have put them on the airwaves loud and clear. Without any help these feminists have graced the cover of Beat, been featured in Dazed and Confused, Vice and The Guardian.
