Robert Castellani, Jon Hart & Maneli Janal @ John Peel Centre

Three world-class acoustic guitarists join us for a special night of virtuoso solo performances. Hailing from the UK and Iran/Canada, they bring a diverse and inspired array of influences into their playing to wow any audience.

As well as the evening performance we are also offering you the opportunity to join Maneli, John and Robert for a one-off afternoon workshop (2pm to 4pm) to look at developing your acoustic guitar playing and vocals. All ages and abilities are welcome. The main areas that will be covered are percussive techniques, beatboxing/singing, and songwriting. Participants should bring their own instruments so they have something to play.

Robert Castellani is an instrumental acoustic guitarist based in Suffolk. Originally starting out as an electric guitarist as a teenager, Robert has become well known for his work on the acoustic instrument. His style draws from many influences including folk, rock, blues, and classical music. Robert’s playing incorporates percussive sounds on the body of the guitar, altered tunings and harmonics, the result of which creates a sound thought impossible from just one instrument.

He has been nominated three times for the national ‘Guitarist of the Year’ award and has won prizes for his compositions and performances. He was also noted in Acoustic Guitar magazine’s list of 30 of the world’s great guitarists under the age of 30.

Robert is a seasoned performer and has toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe and has played alongside top names including Ed Sheeran, Matt Cardle and The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. He is also a well-known teacher and is currently a music lecturer and the head of guitar at Suffolk New College.
