Blackballed, fronted by Marshall Gill (vocals/guitar), who is more usually seen playing guitar for New Model Army, with Tom Wibberley (Bass) and Leon Gill (Drums) are a full tilt powerhouse blues/rock band from Manchester with a ton of passion and style.
Fusing all the best ingredients from blues and rock to psychedelic soulfulness, they conjure up an energy that once discovered won’t be forgotten.
Since their inception in 2012, Blackballed have been smashing down the walls at every show and powering on from strength to strength building on an ever increasing fan base.
With an EP, an album and a stack of gigs, festivals, headline and support slots under their belt, the band returned to the studio in late 2016 to record their second album “Fultons Point” released April 2017.
2017 is already promising to be a fantastic year for Blackballed with a host of gigs, a new album, a UK and European tour and a number of festivals already in the bag.
Blackballed will be supported by The Wilsons and Mesonical both from Bury St. Edmunds but musically different.
The Wilsons are a six-piece band from Bury St Edmunds whose music has been described as “Very British Americana” or “desert rock”. Their new album, “CROW” is due for release in summer 2015, and features a duet with Kate Jackson (The Long Blondes, The Kate Jackson Band, Kate Jackson and the Wrong Moves) who has also joined the band as a vocalist. She is obviously mad! Influences include Nick Cave, Lyle Lovett, The Cure, The Fall and Pixies.
In contrast Mesonical a two-piece outfit (drums and guitar with vocals) formed in 2016 have more of a grungy indi-rock sound; they have released their first single ‘Honey Trap’ in June this year.
